Dumb question I'm guessing but what I think is called the rocker arm oil valve, the center part of the rocker arm with the tube that extends into the head, is it supposed to leak where the tube joins the rocker arm center section? Looks like rockers are oiling OK. If it is not supposed to leak at what I'm guessing is a brazed joint then any tips on soldering or where to get a new one?

Thank you,

Jack

That's called an "oil connector" and yes, it is supposed to vent the excess oil back to the crankcase. As long as oil is seeping out of the holes at the top of all the rocker arms, ignore the leak- - - -it's supposed to be there.

Thanks Jerry. All seeping oil out of the small hole on the rocker except one, 3rd from the end, should I assume it's OK since the last two are oiling fine?

Hello Jack,

I would like to have all the weep holes seeping a little as the weeping oil runs down the rocker arm and lubricates the valve stem. good luck, 59shortfleet

Try giving the hole in the non-flowing rocker a good squirt of spray carb cleaner or brake cleaner, using the small "straw" that's sold with the can of cleaner. Chances re there's just a bit of gunk clogging up the weep hole.

See if oil makes it to that hole when you increase RPM. If it doesn't, do what Jerry suggests.
If it were mine, and it won't weep at higher RPM, I would bite the bullet and pull the lifter assembly, knock the ends out of the rocker tubes and thoroughly clean them. The ends of the tubes have what look like freeze plugs. They come out and go back in easy enough.
While you have it apart, look for excessive wear on the tubes where the rocker arms ride. This will prevent oil from reaching the weep holes on top since it will all leak out at the bottom of the rocker arm bore.
