I'm in the process of refurbishing my doors for my 48 Chevy 1/2 ton truck. It looks like my original door window stainless steel trim has never been off. If I can remove and replace it without damaging it I would like to remove it to make sure I have no rust behind the trim. I welcome your advice. If I stand to damage the trim I may just carefully tape around it so I can prep my doors for paint. Thanks in advance for your advice.

Should be fairly easy procedure.

Note: The photos are from a 1954 truck which came with vent panes. I assume your 48 does not have vent panes.
The doors that have a vent pane, the stainless steel trim is cut slightly different to accommodate the vent pane frame.
I believe both are attached to the door the same way.
