Anybody know where I can get the clips that hold the window molding that attaches to the door? They're for a '55 series 2, 3100
Can't find just the clips.
Mods feel free to put this in the forum most appropriate. Not sure what forum this belongs in. I'm sure you don't need my permission to do that.
Thanks

Back in 2005 when I was searching for clips the vendors all had clips that fit, but were to big on the clip end and the wire gauge was to big. This caused the clip to punch a dimple in the SS molding when pushing the clip in. So I found a spring manufacture and had them make 4000 of these clips. The Filling Station bought me out the first year I took them to the Hershey Swap Meet. They have since sold out of what I had made and I hear they may have found another source to re-make them...give them a call.

You also might try Classic Parts of America, I sent them samples of my original clips a few years ago for them to use to have a batch made...don't know if they did or not...give them a call to see.

Note, the original size clips will not work on the reproduction moldings without using a thin plastic shim (1-gallon milk jug side cut into little strips) to keep the clip centered. The reproduction moldings are a little wider and have a smaller flange for the OEM clips to lock onto. Since I did this things may have changed...repo moldings might be the correct size now and or the clips may have been made to fit them...don't assume anything!

Don't forget to put a thin roll of seam sealer around each clip before installing to seal the hole up.

Mike, Thanks for responding and for the info. My clips don't look anything like what you've shown. Maybe the PO used whatever he had. I'll post a pic of the one I have.
I did talk to Classic this morning. It looked like the clips I have are included with the molding piece but not available separately.

Classic Parts may have had the clips make to only work with their repo moldings, maybe that's why they won't sell then separate (just a guess).

I put myself out of the market when I had them made, so I haven't followed what's new in the marketplace.

I know for a fact that Bill's Truck Shop in Oshawa, Ontario has them. They are factory specific and work as prescribed and are sold by the each.

Darcy, Thank you for suggesting Bill's truck stop. I haven't talked to them yet but they have everything. I love the way their online catalog is laid out. And used parts also when available.
Thanks again for the heads up
