From the looks of it I need to replace most of the parts. I would like to upgrade to a modern master cylinder, with front and rear independent circuits.
I have searched Stovebolt and a couple other forums for a bolt in power brake system for Drum/Drum. I am sure someone out there has made this
upgrade, maybe even knows the part numbers used.
Has anyone had any luck sourcing an under cab master cylinder that works with the 6 wheel cylinder, 2 ton trucks?

You have two basic choices a vacuum boosted system or a hydraulically boosted system, the hydraulically boosted system would require the installation of a power steering pump. I recommend using a dual master cylinder which has the same size bore as your original system, certainly not any smaller on the bore. You will probably have to piece together you own kit, just make sure everyone is aware these parts are for a drum/drum system. '37 GMC T-18 w/ DD 4-53T, RTO-610, 6231 aux., '95 GMC running gear, full disc brakes, power steering, 22.5 wheels and tires.
'47 GMC 1 ton w/ 302, NP-540, 4wd, full width Blazer front axle.
'54 GMC 630 w/ 503 gasser, 5 speed, ex fire truck, shortened WB 4', install 8' bed.
'55 GMC 370 w/270, 420 4 speed, grain, dump bed truck from ND. Works OK.

Ed Maybe for a 1/2 ton but not for a 2 ton, it would not have a big enough bore to push that much fluid. | | | | | Joined: Nov 2010 Posts: 430 'Bolter | | 'Bolter Joined: Nov 2010 Posts: 430 | Noonan, If you knew the amount of time I have invested in making this kit work for these big old trucks you might understand that I am not making very much money on these kits. I have had a couple of guys run my master bracket with the modern dual circuit vacuum boosted master with success. I have not personally driven a drum brake truck with that set up, but As I understand, it works well.
On the kits, I am about a week away from having 5 kits put together for sale.
