I am not aware of anyone making replacement gears. So, it looks as if I need to scout out the wrecking yards for good replacement gears. What range of years are interchangeable for spider gears on a 1956 Chevy ½ ton? My best guess is 1955-1962. Does anyone know if this correct?
I really do not want to do a rear end swap since the brakes, 3.38 ring and pinion and bearings are in excellent condition.

However, there are at least 2 different types of side gears and I'm not sure which carrier will fit the 12 bolt ones. I replaced the drop out in my '55 1st series with an early '60's 3.38 and the side gears were different. I had to mix and match the parts a bit. I hope this helps. | | |

Thanks for the information. I will give Tom’s differential a call for more information. It looks as if it is a viable option. So far, I have found a 58 and 55 in the local wrecking yards; unfortunately, the spider gears were in worse condition than mine were.
Thanks for the good idea.
