I installed a TCI mustang II front suspension in my '51 3100, all went well, I removed the 235 and installed a 350/400 combo and went with a power rack I purchased off ebay in place of the manual rack. I find I can turn a tighter radius to the right, my geometry is correct all inner pivots and rack pivot are lined up to stop bump steer. This may be normal because of the offset of the rack mount. I reduced the pressure from my pump but still it is a very touchy feel, but this may also be due to the quick ratio rack, 2 1/2 turns lock to lock. Has anyone experienced the same ? Any thoughts? Zeke

I also used the TCI setup on my 55 2nd series.I used their power R&P setup. No problems with mine.Only thing I can think of is was everything on center,(wheels straight) when you hooked your steering column up?

OK-here's what I think. Every thing works OK, rides ok, steering a little sensitive but I can get accustomed to that. The wheels turn sharper to the right then to the left. My rack mounts about 1" off center to the right, ( I am measuring from the ends of the rack at boot to the lower inner A arm pivot) my steering left & right is limited by the tie rods stopping in the rack. The mounting tabs are fixed, welded on the frame by TCI, I don't think they could have gone farther left because of the rack steering shaft and the new Mustang II frame , kind of sits tight to the left side with the u-joint going to steering column. Heidt's has good info on the geometry of the MII front end on their web site. My inner upper and inner lower a frame pivots are in line with the rack tie rod pivots as they should be. I could shorten & lengthen the tie rods to get symetrical turning left and right, but this would put the rack pivots out of line giving me bump steer. It is probably a normal install as the only way I can see getting symetrical is to center the rack outer housing tube and you can't. You can only tell the difference when trying to manouver in a tight spot that it turns more right then left. Zeke

I've got the Fatman MII IFS in my truck ... it's manual, but I never noticed anything like being able to turn more to the right than the left, Zeke.

Saturday morning I'm putting a new steering rack in -- a Flaming River rack ... plus new bushings and tie rod ends.
