So, I split my time as a teacher in Nevada and my summers in Michigan. I have a small window to enjoy my trucks and really no time to work on them. My 1954 3100 with the original 235 needs a motor rebuild. I was hoping to find someone on here or a shop to get her rebuilt for me over the fall, winter or spring. The goal is to have a fully running truck I can enjoy. She runs now but lacks power.

Thanks
Matthew

Mattew, do you need a shop that can handle the whole process from pulling the motor to turning the key when done? I use a machine shop in Ann Arbor but I don't think they have room to store the truck while rebuilding the engine.

I was hoping for the pulling of the motor and all. What shop do use in Ann Arbor?

It is called 'Auto Parts Machine Shop". State Street and Ellsworth Rd., south side of town south of I-94. 3784 Plaza Dr., ph. (734) 663-9381

I've had engine machine work done by Daryl and Ryan (owners of Auto Parts Machine Shop) in the past. They've done excellent head/valve work, and short block assembly for me in the past on vintage engines. They also pressed out the old and installed new bearings/bushings for me on a John Deere 2130 bolster/bell crank assembly. I've recommended them to friends needing work on their vintage engines too. I know they pulled an engine from a Ford van for a friend of mine. Rebuilt it and reinstalled. Sakstrup Towing is just south of them. I'd give them a call and see if they would tow your vehicle to Auto Parts Machine Shop and after the engine is pulled take the vehicle to their facility and store it for you until it is time to take it back to the machine shop. They do have shed/inside storage facilities.

Rick, that's a great plan to call Sakstrups/Brewers, they have lots of room. I have not needed to use storage but short term should be possible.

I tried to edit my last post but failed so I'll add here. The owner of Sakstrups/Brewers is a car guy. He might have a soft spot for the old truck.

Awesome. Thanks guys, I will give them a call and see what they say. I just want my truck back on the road so I can enjoy it.
