I'm looking to replace my leaf springs with new sets but I cannot reference any with the original GM part numbers. I have a 1958 3442 step van & the assembly book says 3717400 for front and 3719552 for rear. I'd appreciate any schooling on how to find them.

I consulted general spring. The ones that they sent were a match for my 59 Apache front

I've used St. Louis Spring and was very happy with them. The new springs were a perfect match with the originals.

Guess I'll just measure and hope for a good fit.

Have you looked at the GM Heritage site? There's information there on spring leaf count, width, length, overall capacity. That should be all the spring fabricator needs to match the originals.

If you're smart enough to take it apart, you darn well better be smart enough to put it back together.

I think that Keving is referring to page T-81/T-82 for front-springs in the Specification Manual.

I did not see rear spring information - maybe someone else can find it and post the page/pages?

Maybe a spring fabricator can work with that information?

Yes, that's what I was referring to. I saw two pages and made the assumption that one page was front and second was rear. Didn't look that close, obviously. But there's enough info for the fronts for a fabricator to duplicate them.

The only information that I had to provide to St. Louis Spring was that it is a 1954 3100 and that I wanted stock springs. They had all the other information that they needed. I was in St. Louis at the time, placed my order in the morning and picked them up that afternoon.
