My truck has an aftermarket ignition switch in it now.
I want to find an original switch so I have keys for doors ignition and glove box.
Looking at nos switches and then I will buy the reykey tumbler and Key kit from one of the usual suspects.
My question is how many terminals is the switch supposed to have on the back?
I see 5 to 8 listed. Will any one work?
Thank you! Mike smile

Do you have foot stomp starter or electric solenoid key start? What motor? The standard "V8" switch has 5 separate functions, some have two terminals for one function. The switch ends up with 7 terminals (blades). Available new (aftermarket or NOS).

All LCF's are V8 trucks, the 6-cylinder was to long and wouldn't fit, so he needs the V8 switch.

The original switch for 1955/56 Chevrolet V8 trucks is p/n is 1116514 (less cyl & keys)...it may be marked "514". There will be 5 terminals...IGN-1, IGN-2, SOL, ACC & BAT (some terminals will have two blade connection points).

They are on the big auction site most of the time...or repro from your favorite vendor.

Ok great. Thanks for the responses. I will look for the 5 terminal.
I do not have a foot starter and there is no provision for one in the floor. It is a V8.
Mike B, do your big bolts have a drivers side interior sun visor? Is it masonite?
I will update on my switch findings.

You are correct, there never was a provision for foot start in a Chevrolet LCF because they are ALL V8 trucks and V8's were never made with a foot start starter motor.

If your visor is just masonite then the vinyl cover is missing...ALL of the TF trucks share the same visors. The "uncovered" bare masonite visors sold by the vendors are for the guys doing custom interiors...the stock visor looks like this.

The GMC's that look like the Chevrolet LCF's were called the "F" Series and they had different front ends to accommodate lots of different engine options...the LCF series name belongs to Chevrolet only.

Mike b, thanks for clarification on visor. Perfect.
Ed, gmc had some amazing options for engines!
I have a 302 from a big farm truck. I just fired it up on the engine stand last week.
I am building a '54 gmc halfton and the 302 will be hooked to a t5 and look very close to stock 248 and 4sp I hope.
Any opinion on nos ignition switch vs replacement from one of the vendors?
Thanks! Mike
