Can anyone tell me if there was a Chevy/GMC suburban factory camper option in the 40s-‘50s? One with ice box, bed, stove, skeeter nets, etc?

There was no Chevrolet truck "camper option" in the 40s/50s.
My guess is that would be the same for GMC trucks.

There most likely were non-GM "after-market" "camper-equipment" companies that a dealer could call upon to equip a truck.

What year truck are you most interest in? I'll check the special equipment "Silver Book" for that year, if I have it.

Thanks for that information. I’ve got a friend who was at a Volkswagen dealership in Tampa buying a bug in 1973 and an elderly couple was trading in this camper on a VW camper. (he thinks it was a 1951, definitely an advanced design). He remembers it having mosquito netting, propane stove, table, storage, bedding and an icebox. He said looked like an immaculate time capsule. He said he overheard the conversation between the couple and the salesman and they said it was a factory option. Probably meant factory made from after market company.
