Hi all, when I pop the 2 latches on the hood I have to use my shoulder to lift hood.
It appears that there were 2 springs on the actual hood originally. Like the attachement points are there but springs fell off, similar to the one on the center of a 1/2 ton(1 spring).
Were there 2 springs on the LCF?
If so are there replacements?
Same as pickup or car?
Thanks Mike

Hi Mike, my '57 LCF does not have any coil springs to "pop' the hood, I don't know if it ever had any. After I adjusted and lubed the latches and lubed the hinges mine opens easily. Release the driver's side first with a slight lifting pressure then the passenger side.

Ok. I will try the release one then the other method.
Now they release great and hood goes up and down great but it needs that "pop" to get it up to the safety catches. If you look at the 2 corners of the hood, does yours have spots like there were springs there orig? Mine does. I will get pics and post later.

Yes, mine has the round indents but no bolt hole or other indication that it had springs, I was thinking the same as you when I first got the truck but after you get used to the sequence it opens quickly.

I've never seen hood pop-up springs on any TF truck...

This is why I asked the question. There is one of these indents and holes on both corners of the hood. Odd headscratch

I once helped a guy out who was trying to sell a Corvette. He had restored it to the nines but was missing a small L bracket that held the AC expansion valve to the firewall. There was a groove in the valve and dents for screw holes in the firewall. I fabbed the bracket and installed it in the car. Made the bracket look like it had been stamped out of sheet metal with nice rounded corners and everything. Found the right clip to hold the valve. He sold the car to a guy who remarked that he had never seen a car that had the bracket intact. He was very happy with the car. Good times, eh?

Later the seller told me he found out that the bracket was a factory design that had been deleted for cost savings, never made nor installed on any car...
