Im at a point where I need to buy some body filler for my project. In the past, I have only used Bondo brand, but I noticed that most of you prefer others. Since I've never been real good at application or finishing of it anyway, I need to give myself all the help that I can. Please tell my which ones are your favorites, based on ease of use and quality. I did notice that the RAGE brand has several different types, i.e. gold, premium, etc etc. They all read similar, so how do I figure out which will work best for me. All help appreciated. I'd like to add, that the help I get from this list is absolutely great. Having this kind of help is a wonderful thing.

I had a body shop owner recommend All Metal to me. I haven't gotten to the point of filler yet, though.

If you're smart enough to take it apart, you darn well better be smart enough to put it back together.

Things have changed now, Mike. Bondo Lightweight is still very popular and some of the Rage products are also. I think the contest would be between Bondo Lightweight and Rage Gold Premium, but I'll let somebody else decide the winner. I will tell you hardeners have changed. I don't know what they did to them, but it wasn't a good change and I started noticing it about 3 years ago. Today in hot weather it sets really fast and in cold weather it can take a day or more to set. Fiberglass hardener now works the same way and it does take some getting used to. Last winter I did some fiberglass work which took 3 days before it could be sanded and it was mixed right by the book. Good luck!

Most fillers good, I like to add evercoat plastic honey to filler so I can adjust consistency .This also helps to minimize pinholes, hope this helps.

He's messing with your head. He likely wants you to make a mess of it so he you end up taking it to him to fix. All Metal is an aluminum filler and not a product you want to use, unless you are an expert technician and know exactly why you are using this particular product.

Get a good gallon of Evercoat Rage Gold or similar and have a much easier time with it than you ever would with All Metal.

Well he won't be getting it to fix if I try that, because he closed his shop. As I mentioned, I haven't gotten to filler yet, so will research more before starting. I do have some experience using filler, but it was about 50 years ago.
Thanks
