I have a stuck heat riser on a 216.
Has someone found a really good way to rebuild these?

Has someone found a really good way to free them up and remove the flapper valve without going caveman and breaking the cast iron?

Well,if it is not too bad off and just stuck I would spray it with some rust penetrant and let it sit for a day. Then GENTLY tap on one side and the other alternately.Work(twist) it back and forth as it would in normal operation.Do not force it but be firm yet gentle.If it does not start to move ,gently tap it side to side again.It will work loose if it is not too badly rusted as some I have seen.

Another variation ; Gas torch , heat casting , pour on water , tap ,tap ,tap ,on counter weight , gentle wit hammer ,
Gas torch again , heat casting hotter , pour on water , tap , tap ,tap , working valve back and forth,
Do it again ,
Do it again ,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,
