I have treated several pieces including the insides of my doors with Ospho, per recommendations from some on this list. I noticed on the Ospho directions that it cautioned using Epoxy paint on the Ospho. I assume this would include Epoxy primer. I'm curious to know what experiences you folks have had in trying Epoxy on top of the Ospho. Maybe if the ospho works well enough, then the epoxy may be an overkill. Have any of you used lacquer primer over ospho. I plan to use lacquer primer rather than urethane, because I tend to prime pieces a little at a time, at first and I have a lot less waste with the lacquer.

If you cannot get the surface squeaky clean after applying Opsho, do not use epoxy on it. Inside of a door would be next to be impossible to clean thoroughly.

There isn't a single epoxy primer manufacturer that will recommend using epoxy after ospho that I know of.

Epoxy is not a paint; it's a primer that prevents "rust creep". There is nothing better for rust prevention than an epoxy..including Ospho...nothing.

Perhaps the folks that recommended Ospho have some suggestions for you on next steps??

Do not use lacquer primer as it will cause you nothing but grief when you put paint over it. Urethane primer is the only primer to use over epoxy primer. You can mix a little bit, each time you need some so you can still prime as you go.
