Who knows what a presious owner may have had there. Its not oem. Is the push button for starter or horn? Cause its not original either. Typically there would be a choke cable beside ignition switch.
Everyone just likes to drill holes. What I'd like to see is them going to the trouble to fix them and make it factory again. Then they'd think twice about drilling. Not many people could fill the holes and make it like OEM.

That hole is original. It was for the choke on gasoline engines. Over the years, cables get switch around but that is a stock hole on '58-59 GMC trucks.

My throttle cable has always been in that location, not the choke.
Additionally, the push button is taking the place of the stock cigar lighter, if so equipped.
