I have a 61 C20 with a tired 235. I have found a rebuilt 250 that was un a car vi rage late 60"s. Will it swap in place of my 235 and bolt up to my 4 speed. 1 more thing, I ha e that hydralic clutch slave cylinder as well.

You'll need a year-correct V8 bellhousing for the truck to make the 250 and the transmission mate up. The 235 housing and the 250 do not play well together. The V8 also has the throwout fork for the hydraulic clutch on the passenger's side.

Hy David C. the short answer to your question as I struggle to read it is no. Could you please edit your question to correct the mistakes and missing letters? The 250 engine uses a totally different mounting system than your 235 and the bellhousing from your 235 will not bolt up to the 250 without an adapter. Further complicating things is the fact that the 1960 through 62 trucks used a hydraulic clutch which operated out of the right side of the bellhousing. I'm not saying the swap cannot be done, but it will be a considerable amount of work.

I got the message. It will be a struggle to say the least. I will keep looking for something else.

The 250 and its brothers are about 3" longer than a 235, also, again, it is doable, just keep these issues in mind.

Should be able to locate a 235 or 261 in Montana I would think.

Do you mean a 283?

All the V8 bellhousings have the same bolt pattern. The one you need will also have the right side throwout fork to work with the hydraulic clutch release system. I believe that one was only used for 2 or 3 years, including 1961. The 194/230/250/292 inline sixes have the same bellhousing bolt pattern as a V8.
