1950 Chevy 3100. Factory ride height. Straight axle. Added disc brakes. Instructions said the disc kit would add 1/2 or 3/4 of an inch of each side. I want to keep with 15 inch. Disc kit changed lug pattern to 5x4.75. I also have power steering using GM box on frame.
What have you guys used? What backspacing and wheel width do you guys recommend.

Take some time and read up on how to achieve your desired results. | | | | | Joined: Jul 2000 Posts: 2,187 Insomniac | | Insomniac Joined: Jul 2000 Posts: 2,187 | My wheels are 15" steel with 5x4.75 bolt pattern. Width is 6" or 7". Backspacing is 4".
Disk brakes on front. Camaro rear axle.
Works fine.

I'm still trying to figure out wheel specs. Offset, backspacing, width and what tires to use.
For the most part I'm finding that factory wheels had a 3.5 inch backspacing. But if they were narrower, wouldn't that mean I need a high backspace to even it out?
Another search, someone was said that you shouldn't go more than 4.5.
I'm just trying to not order something that won't work. Back spacing or rear spacing is the distance from the rear of the wheel to the mounting surface.
Offset can be negative or positive.
