I have not had a chev/gmc for years (thank you to Admin not deleting my Account), and recently acquired a 40"s CCKW GMC 6x6 fitted with a 270 engine.
I'm in Namibia siuthern africa.
The 270 is locked up, i have not yet determined the year but it is between 41 - 49.
My thoughts is to replace the 270 with a chev 235 from mid fifties as they are more available here.
Question though would the 235 bolt up to the the 270 Bell housing.
Can any GURRUS give me an answer.+
I have looked int the technical forum but can not confirm 40's bolt on to mid fifites 235 bellhousing.

Some of the part number crunchers will need to give you some advice about whether or not the timing pointer on the bellhousing and the 235 flywheel will give you accurate ignition timing. I don't think the GMC flywheel will work with the 235, but the 235 clutch, pressure plate and associated parts should mate with the transmission input shaft OK. The 235 engine is a couple of inches shorter than the GMC, so you'll need to do some adapting of the front motor mounts. Exhaust, throttle linkage, and a few other accessories will probably need to be adapted, also. Good luck!
