I am replacing the cab on my '64 with a cab from a '66. I have the title for the '64, but no title for the '66. The problem is, the '64 has somehow lost its VIN (above the driver's side door); the '66 has its VIN. How do I go about making sure it is the '64 that remains titled? Do I remove the VIN from the '66 and just hope no one asks where the VIN is?

If you don't have the correct one I would remove it. The frame VIN on these trucks is stamped on topside of frame rail, usually driver's side. Mine was in two places, one ahead of front wheels, one under cab . I'll be retaining the '64's frame, so I'll take a look @ the frame tonite. If you take a Bill of sale with the vin# of the vehicle and proof of insurance for the vehicle, you get a tag. If it is the same in Alabama, turn in the tag from the 64 cab and apply for a tag with the 66 vin# and a bill of sale from whoever you bought the cab from. Just make sure that someone isn't using the frame on another vehicle that is registered with the same # that you are using.
