My search for a Carter carb finally paid off, in fact I ended up with two YF2100s. I've cleaned both and put kits in both, results are one has good idle and good acceleration, but it has fuel dribble out of the main discharge nozzle at an idle? The other carb, well it don't want to idle at all, unless I keep the choke closed, but It will rev up. From the searches I've done here, there must be a common problem that eludes this shade tree mechanic. Fortunately I still have my Rochester to put back on and keep the truck on the road. Any input will be appreciated.

On the carb that's dribbling, what's the idle speed? If it's a little too fast, you'll see the high speed system beginning to flow some fuel. If the idle speed is down around 500-600 RPM or so, the float level is probably set a little too high. Try lowering the float a little and see if the dribble goes away. On the one that won't idle, you've probably got an idle passage clogged up, or a gasket installed incorrectly that's blocking a passage. How did you clean the carb while putting the kit into it? If you didn't use some type of solvent dip cleaner, followed by a hot water rinse and LOTS of high pressure air through every passage, you didn't get it clean enough. Solvent softens deposits, and the air blows them out. No air available- - - - -don't waste your time trying to do a rebuild!

Thanks Jerry, I'll check it out. I left both carbs in the soup for 3-4 days, rinsed them off with boiling water and soap and used my compressor to blow them out?

It sounds like you've got the procedure well in hand. I use a vibrating bowl-type cleaner nornally used to polish brass cartridge cases with a solution of Trisodium Phosphate and water for cleaning small parts like carburetors, then a hot water flush and lots of air. Your method sounds OK as well.
