Does anyone know anything about Warford Auxiliary transmissions? I have one I am trying to find out if it has overdrive. The last Patent date on it is June 1 1926. This has a rear shift and not a top shift like I have seen online. Seems to be a 3 speed with overdrive, direct and under. Not sure how to check the overdrive ratio. Any ideas? I thought these for Fords but there is a data plate above the Warford logo that has "CHEV 1330" hand stamped into it.

Checking the trans gear ratios is easy...mark both input and output shafts and the housing with a reference mark. Then turn the input shaft and count it's number of revolutions until the output shaft has made one complete turn...then do this for the other gears. Direct will be one full turn of the input equals one full turn on the output. If you have OD than about three quarters of a turn on the input shaft will equal one full turn on the output.

Hope this make sense,

Mike B smile

More accurate to turn input 10 turns and count output, or even 100 turns.
Hard to precisely determine ratio from a single fraction of a turn, though one turn is enough to answer if overdrive or not.

Sure you know which end is input?
If confused then it would be direct and overdrive.
