Hello everyone I’m from the uk
I have a 1959 apache
I’ve just bought a jag xj12 as a donor car for suspension
And maybe seats and gauges
It’s just occurred to me I will need a left hand drive
Steering rack 😜😜
Has anyone done this ?
What else should I use can I use the steering column?
I really want to have ‘chase’ on the road this year
So all help is appreciated 👍

Kirko, There is no reason why to change the Steering. When I was a teenager I had a right hand drive Triumph TR4A. Only time it's needed is to pass a slower car. Rig you up a camera to observe with.

Change the steering rack to left hand; It's a HUGE hassle to convert an American 59 Chevy pickup to right hand. All pedals must be moved. a new steering column to dash drop fabricated with firewall bracing, glove box deleted and new gauge panel fabricated, and on forever. I don't know the year of your XJ12 but new/rebuilt r&p units can be bought for $250 on ebay. You can keep your steering column by cutting the tube and shaft just above the steering box, trim just the tube back a couple inches and grind flats on the shaft to accept a DD U-joint. You can tack the low/reverse selector inside the factory shifter box and use either a bearing or an oilite bushing in the bottom of the steering column to center shaft and an fabricated anchor of column to floor. We have done a half dozen Jag suspension to AD and TF Pickups using both the early inboard disc brakes or the later outboard ones. If you have the early inboard unit you can use the entire Jag factory cradle in your 59 by just bending the lower frame flange down just a bit. Picture of Jag IRS with cradle in a 55 and also have pics of the not so pretty outboard unit in an AD. Have photos of most every step if you get stuck. Last picture shows stance of finished truck with Jaguar suspension.
