If this is for a 1946, it does not have a separate sending unit. It has a bulb,attached to a tube, that inserts into the block.

Check with Jim Carter Truck Parts. They say to call and ask if you're looking for an electric sending unit.

The sending unit in the image looks like one found on a much later (1958+) 235. I believe I have a used one as in your image that I would give you if you pay the postage. Provided I can find it! But Harold is right, a 1946 truck should have the capillary tube type temperature sending unit.

If the truck is a GMC it could have either a capillary or electric sending unit. What truck and engine do you have?

Good point...I had my Chevy blinders on! While not well articulated, the OP may be talking about a GMC.
