Does anyone have a link for history on a 1949 Chevy 3600. Trying to find out how many 3/4 tons were made for the 1949 year only.

I can’t find my copy, but I believe this book has production numbers that may help. Perhaps your library could bring in a cooy for you to peruse?

I do have some sketchy production figures for the 1947-1955.1 "Chevrolet Only" trucks but ,Tim & the OP only requested info. on the 1949,1950,1952 & 1953 trucks.


I have never seen a breakdown of production numbers based on the specific tonnage of the truck.

I have only seen figures that reflect the total number of Commercial vehicles produced based on some vague GVW ratings.

"Commercial Units" consist of everything from the sedan delivery up to the 2 ton COE units.

Here is what I have :

1949:
The total output of of commercial units is listed as 383,543

This is all I have on the breakdown of that total:
5,000 lbs. & less...201,537 units
5,001-10,000 lbs...97,678 units
{ It appears that the 10,001 - 16,000 lb. units are missing from this breakdown }



1950:
5,000 lbs. & less...265,515 units
5,001-10,000 lbs....102,669 units
10,001-14,000 lbs....27,848 units
14,001-16,000 lbs....98,591 units

1952: I could not find anything......... based on reduced production figures because of the Korean war.

1953 :
The total output of commercial units is listed at 361,833 .

This is all I have on the breakdown of that total:
5,000 lbs. & less....203,242 units
5001 lbs.-10,000 lbs. 71,517 units

My copy of the "Chevrolet Pickup Red Book" (Motorbooks International, 1946-1972) says for 1949:
Total = 383,543
1/2T = 201,537
3/4T = 97,668

1949 is the only AD year that has that breakdown. This out-of-print book is really hit or miss.

There are more complete production numbers for post-AD trucks (C-10, C-20, K-10, etc.).

That 1/2 ton figure also covers the sedan delivery, suburbans, panel vans , canopy express & all of the other configurations
{such as flat face cowl 3102 ,cab chassis 3103 bodies & chassis/cowl w/ windshield 3112 models }.

There is no way of telling how many 1/2 ton stepside trucks were actually produced. Same thing for the 3/4 ton figure.

I do not have the numbers for 1949, but, here are the "official" numbers for the 1950 calendar year (by Chevrolet truck model number).

Does anyone have production numbers on the 1954 year model trucks?

Here is a table of A-D trucks by size/model. I do not know what the author used as a source of those numbers (published by The Light Commercial Truck Association In 1984.)

Am I missing something??? The link you attached shows cost per model by year, but not production figures by model, only year totals.
