I had the original carter wfb carb rebuilt by pros, however, it leaked terribly when I got it back so I kept it but am trying to get the beast running (60 Apache 20 4x4). Also I didn't know if I am going to big with this 600 cfm carb (ilo 500 cfm) or even a 2 bbl?

Looking forward to hearing what you ended up with.
Thank you for your help!

There are even universal adapters that have a couple of different bolt patterns and can be flipped over to fit different throttle plates. I bet someone on here knows exactly which one you need.

It would not be period correct but it appears as that is not a major focus.

One that's been run becomes a stinky paperweight. A 283 at 6K RPM and 100% volumetric efficiency (impossible) flows 490 CFM, so a 650 carb is WAY too much to run properly. These numbers you will find in many references. They each flowed approximately 380 CFM.
But in 1957, Chevrolet also built racing 283's. These used Carter WCFB number 2493s. This number you MIGHT find in a few references, but it exists. And Carter published a flow number on this carburetor. It was also 380 CFM.
I have asked a number of folks this question, with absolutely no disrespect intended: does your 283 require more CFM than the racing engine built by Mr. Duntov?

Sorry to be late to the discussion. It case others follow this topic in the future. Leaking where? Stock fuel pump?
