Again, thanks! | | | | Joined: Nov 2000 Posts: 5 Junior Member | | Junior Member Joined: Nov 2000 Posts: 5 | I just picked up one of these for an my H.E.I, I was wondering when is the ideal range for the full advance to come on. The kit comes w/ different weight springs so you can move when the advance starts and when its fully opend. If peak torque is at 3,000, when should the advance be full, or should i shoot for peak H.P which is somewhere around 4,00-4,500? Iwas thinking around 1,00 before peak power, but i've never done this before. Any input would be great!! There aren't many of them around any more. You should have full advance by around 2200 rpms, but if your dist. doesn't have a vacuum advance, that may be too soon for highway cruising. The only way to tell, is to try lighter springs and test drive it. If you have no spark knock, you are ok. Find an adjustable timing light and time the engine at 3000 rpms to around 36 degrees. If it spark knocks, you will have to lower it until it doesn't. | | |
