For some of the old guys who remember my question about putting a caddy big block in a 48-53 fat fender. I have answered the question with the first step of the process. In 12 hours we successfully mated a 48 1 ton dually frame (rear section to a 73 caddilac deville front clip with a 472/bop turbo 400. It's ugly but it is a rolling chasis. Steve just went through your web page, looks great.
I have the same problem, projects are so easy to buy, then comes the work....
If you would like to put a few of my 48 pictures up that would be great,
Thank You. RR

Ric I received the picture of your old panel, but did not get the '48 pics. I'd love to see them and post a few for you.

Thanks Steve, these are in the very rough stage and that is not the cab we are using that is a mock up fab-cab. Once we get the steering and driveline cut and fit, then it all comes apart again. The frame will be powdercoated and the suspension/brakes done. The motor is then getting torn down and rebuilt. It runs now w/o smoke but i want to freshen it up and of course a layer of chevy engine orange will be applied. I have a 48 5 window cab that is online to replace this rusted one. I prefer three window if anybody has a rust free 3 window 48-53 that would like to trade, let me know. Sorry no 54's or 55 1st series, it has to be a 2 piece front glass.
Steve I think i sent you a picure of that cab it is the purple one with no front end on the 49 1/2 ton frame with the nova clip.
thanks for looking and email me with any helpful hints you may have as this project unfolds.
RR

Offensive driving is the key to running the wild back roads of Eastern, Washington. You need a big gas pedal to out run wide turning combines and persistent moose. I figure if I carry a jelly roll on the back ( about a 600lb round bail of hay) that should keep the tire smoke down to a minimum.
