I have a 1947 pickup (3100) with a 235 engine and the original oil bath air cleaner. The oil is messy and I want to replace it with a paper filter that will fit in the area where the oil is housed inside the air cleaner. I know there is probably not a perfect fit paper filter.....but does anyone know of one that would be close to the needed size and work. I don't want to replace the oil bath air cleaner because I want it to look original. Thanks!
Wix has a page where you can look for filters sorted by size. I had to get creative to find a filter that would work on my '38. I used heater hose to take up the difference in width. Pics below. The Wix site:http://www.wixfilters.com/lookup/FilterBySize.aspx

You can also contact Fram online. They have a great support service. A chat box will open up where you tell the rep the height and diameter of the filter you need, they'll plug it in their system and get you the closest thing they have. In my case it took less than 5 minutes and I found the replacement number available on Amazon for less than $5 each shipping included. I mention this because Fram turned out to be the only source for the size I needed.

Great idea!!! What is the number of the wix filter you used?
Sorry to be so late answering. Chevy made a number of different filter assemblies. What works on mine may not work on yours. Be sure to compare measurements before buying one. I don't remember the number off the top of my head. I'll look my next trip to the garage.
