Looking for some help with my 216 numbers . The casting numbers on my block are 3835253 which all the reading I’ve done points me to believe it’s a 1948 216 but what’s throwing me off is the serial numbers do not start with FA or GA they start with numbers 311 I’ve looked into those numbers and the 1940 216 used those numbers . And also the car I pulled it out of is a 1940 special deluxe . Wondering why would my serial numbers match the year of my car but the casting numbers are way off in years .. also looked at the heads casting numbers and they macth the 1948 numbers. Any input would be appreciated. Also if any one knows what the number below the casting number 3835253 means mine happens to be 19 .

What is the complete Engine Serial Number?

Where (from whom) did you buy the engine?

Maybe your engine was a replacement engine and the engine serial number was changed to match the ID for the "new" vehicle?

What is the block date casting code, and the head date casting code?

hi Facundo, is your engine from a Canadian truck or another part of the world?
Canada vs USA used different formats for the individual stampings next to the distributor.

Makes sense replacement engine. And they probably stamped the old engine serial numbers one the new replacement engine . It does look like it was stamped by someone other than a factory stamp . The number indents on the block is not as deep as other serial numbers I’ve seen on other blocks. Block date casting code and head date casting codes all macth 1948 codes. all numbers macth 1948 except the serial number so it makes perfect sense that they probably stamped the original serial number on replacement engine. Thks for your help
