I have a 50 chev 1/2 ton and have located a compelted chassis with must 2 and **** rear, 4 wheel disc, all rebuilt and painted. The question is it is out of a 53 GMC. Will I find any problems putting my cab and bed on this chassis? I know the front sheet metal was different along with the engine, but I don't know about the mountings and such. Any help out there? Thanks.

I think that you will find most of the mounts the same. The only difference may be the bolt holes in the frame for the rear cab mounts. I have two GMC 3/4 ton frames, one a 53, the other a 52. On both, the bolt holes are vertically in line (|). The 53 GMC frame has a Chevy cab from a 53 1/2 ton sitting on it. The Chevy cab mounts have bolt holes which are on a diagonal(/). These are the only differences I've noticed concerning stock cab and bed mounts.

Thanks for the info. I looked at the chassis today. It looks like the rear cab mounting holes on this 1/2 ton are diagonal like the chev. The only real difference I saw so far is the radiator is different. I suspect the core sits about 3/4-1 inch farther forward on the GMC due to maybe the engine is longer than the chev. I think the mounting holes may be the same. I plan on comparing dim. on mine tomorrow to verify as much as possible. So far so good. Thanks again.

The AD rad support mounting did change around 1950. The earlier one had one center mount with two bolts while the later one had two mounts with one bolt each as I remember.
