The originals had an about 1/2” hole at the center that was used to capture the hook shaped bolt that in turn captured the end of the spare tire carrier. There were two swagged fasteners used to hold a bracket to reinforce the valance. The repop valance is absent the hole and the bracket is spot welded. One of those spot welds is in the center of the bracket, where the hole needs to be. The problem, as I see , it is the two remaining .25” diameter spot welds after drilling a hole would seem likely to fail under the load expected they would carry? I will now need to drill a hole and two additional holes, one on each side to reinforce the spot welds. Then touch-up paint the bolt heads, and any damage related. Sure wish I’d compared the valances more carefully before painting!🤪 | | |
