If so, did you have to move the spring perches? Will they line up as is? Thanks! | | | | | Joined: Dec 2002 Posts: 2 Junior Member | | Junior Member Joined: Dec 2002 Posts: 2 | I'm not sure about the S-10 width but people do chassis swaps using the S-10 for the AD trucks. However any 10 or 12 bolt from a mid 70's Camaro or Firebird will fit perfectly.
What ever you use it should be close to 61" backing plate to backing plate. | | | | | Joined: Feb 2001 Posts: 96 Shop Shark | | Shop Shark Joined: Feb 2001 Posts: 96 | I used a s10 4wd blazer rear on my 46. I had to cut the perches and weld on new ones. A couple of things measure the width I know there are two widths 2 vs 4 wd and I have been told there are 3. Watch the ratios as rears with the OD trans. usually have lower gears. The axle tube are 23/4 vs the older camaro that are 3". Mid late 80's chevrolet they used clips to hold the break wheel cyl vs later models like the early camaro used bolts. | | | | | Joined: May 2001 Posts: 61 Member | | Member Joined: May 2001 Posts: 61 | Well, I went and bought a 4.11 rear end from a 1984 S10 4wd Blazer. It is the correct width (60" from wheel hub plate to wheel hub plate). I did have to move the spring perches to the outside, 2 inches on each side. It fits perfectly. Once I install the engine and tranny, I will check the yoke angle to ensure it aligns with the transmission. If it doesn't, I will use shims. Thanks for the input. | | |
