Thanks for adding me to the Forum. I've been poking around the site for a few years now and got to working on my '49 GMC 100 this past summer. I've gotten a lot of useful information just by listening in. Wanted to add a few pics as I've come across some interesting markings and wondering if anyone knows what they are or if they're even correct. The bell housing has a blue "x" painted on the top of it, and the tranny case has white spray paint dots on it in a few places. The driveline was caked in a waxy grease that was pretty tough to get off. Under it, all was pretty well preserved. Just like someone mentioned in a previous thread , some GMC blocks are an "avocado" color. This is the case with mine. I'm uploading photos. Thanks for any input in advance.

welcome to the site! On trucks this old, things like a white spot on the trans could have been put there by just about anyone! You do have an SM420 for a transmission though.
