Anyone have a lead on a part number or an aftermarket rubber boot for transfer case lever for my stock 66 K10? Been having trouble finding something that will fit right.

On my 1960, it is a flat "boot" with a metal circular keeper ring. I used some stiff material made from gas tank pads. Just had a slit in it. Sheet rubber would also work. Don't know what 66 had.

Had not considered making one, but you got me on to it. That will be pretty easy. Should be able to cut a ring. Use some thick matting with slit and then dress this up with a rubber or naugahyde skirt. Case closed.

Hambone, I looked all over for the appropriate shifter boot for the 860 (with a newer trans and completely different shifter than stock) and finally made one for a Peterbuilt work. I know, GMC, Peterbuilt, big difference (kind of like gas and diesel.... headscratch) But it worked out and looks appropriate.
I asked Bob Google what he had in the way of 4 wheel drive shifter boots and he came up with lots of choices

Original boots were fluted, but so few people have ever seen them that only a real purist would know the difference. Most have fallen apart and are long gone.. NOS ones pop up on eBay once in a while but they go for big bucks.

You sound like you might have a picture you can take? If you have one installed, I would benefit from the picture.

I guess you need one with the bellows "tucked in tight" like the pic. The ones everyone uses have tall bellows and don't conform to the weird bend if the T-221 lever.

You do nice work Billy, but that shift lever comes up straight thru the floor. Our 4x4 lever comes through the at 60 degrees with a sharp bend. As I have found with other boots I have tried (and as Bartamos describes) our boot will need to be almost flat and accommodate to bigger bend at the floor.
I did research those 2 part numbers and they appear to be the unobtainium flavor. I will keep looking. The snakes are not crawling in the cab yet.
But I did run through some your pictures. Man that looks nice.

They didn't even use a 4 sp shift boot in 1960-196? GM bellows boots were still being "invented" early on.
