Hey all, I got a 57 Chevy 6400 US forest service truck. Has the big 6 lug wheels. Looking g to swap the body on a 1990s 1 ton dually frame. Is there an 8 to big 6 lug adapter so I can use the stock wheels on the newer frame?

Hy Beast57, I do not know if such an adapter exists, but I wanted you to be aware that at least your left rear outer wheel is the dreaded Firestone RH5 "Widow Maker", please check all your wheels to see if they are the same design, some clues are no splits on the flanges on either side of the wheel and a boxlike structure running around the inside of the wheel. These wheels are EXTREMELY DANGEROUS to play with they have KILLED or SEVERELY INJURED people. My best advice is to remove all the air pressure from them before you do anything with them. There are multi piece wheels available with that mounting pattern, also tubeless wheels are available in a couple of different widths, but these are rare. Please be CAREFUL when working with those wheels!!!

Front wheel is an RH 5 as well, probably the whole set then.

22.5” tubeless are available, used is best bet. Some of the new ones I’ve seen don’t look good, they take a “universal” shape wheel and drill it for that pattern, overly large flat center in the wheel.

I’m not aware of adapters to 6 lug Budd from anything smaller.

Adapters are available for semi truck sized 10 lug from pickup truck 8 lug. Some people like that look on their pickup.

Yeah I don't want rims of death. I will have to explore the semi 22.5 rims. I was hoping to keep the rim patina look but I'd rather live. Thanks!

The 6-lug 22.5" rims are not impossible to find. Put an ad in the Parts Wanted section here and see if any turn up.

Also, check your local big truck junk yard wheel pile, they were used for many years on lots of different trucks and buses. You need the skinny ones...about 6.5" wide for a 9.00 x 22.5 tire.

And I think the six lug ones are Budd only.
