The 6-lug 22.5" rims are not impossible to find. Put an ad in the Parts Wanted section here and see if any turn up.
Also, check your local big truck junk yard wheel pile, they were used for many years on lots of different trucks and buses. You need the skinny ones...about 6.5" wide for a 9.00 x 22.5 tire.
