I have modified the inards of my truck so I am not trying to get an 'original' look necessarily.
Just curious.....What type rims do you guys think looks good on a Chevy 1/2 ton 5 window pickup?

I may go with painted Corvette rallys, no trim rings and the same caps if avalable. Check www.Stocktonwheel.com ,they have some nice wheels at reasonable prices. I've got Cragar SS's on my 54, and with the correct washers I'm okay, only if I change tires or get them rebalanced, shimmy occurs until I get them centered right again. It's a pain in the neck. American Racing has some really nice looking wheels -- this link takes you to a set that looks just like Cragar SS's (my all-out favorite look).

What I did was use a stock hub cap from a 48 -55 gmc with the GMC script, but not painted. Very subtle and requires looking at the detail. This is a stock wheel (59 GMC) that was sandblasted and powdercoated (two coats of black and then a clear coat). When you get them balanced ask to have the wheel weights on the inside. Just a small detail, but when I saw a 53 Chev that was running this same set up it looked funny to see the wheel weights. Today I looked into getting my 18" split rims sandblasted and powder coated. They estimated $50 each rim. Is that in the ball park of what you would expect?
Sandblasting alone was quoted to be around $20 to $25 each rim.
Also, NorthernGMC -- I was not able to view the picture of the rims you noted. I saw your picture folder and nice shots of the GMC but couldn't get a good look at the rims (maybe I missed it somehow).
