Over the years I've never seen John ask for donations. Yet we have regulars who give often, some even monthly, that help keep the lights on and the fridge filled with beer. A member PM'd me asking if he could donate, and I literally had to hunt for the link. That's how discreet John is about asking for money.

I donate my time to keep the servers running and the applications up to date as well as approving all new registrations and some moderated posts. A lot of others donate their time by being Moderators or organizing events like the KC Reunion. Or by helping members with their extensive knowledge. We get "paid" in imaginary beer from the imaginary Stovebolt fridge. Some even help out simply by letting us know when something isn't working as expected.

John and Peg do almost ALL the website work, corral the moderators and deal with all the malcontents.

If you've ever thought of helping Stovebolt out by donating money, you can do so by going to this link: https://www.stovebolt.com/office/thanks.html

You get there by going to the home page, clicking on Stovebolt Office, and then clicking on High Finance. You can read the honor roll of givers there and John and Peggy's thankfulness for all those who help out.

Typical of John and Peggy's reticence to ask for money, the page hasn't been updated in two years!

If you've got a little extra cash this Christmas, think about helping out the site by donating. Every dime goes to pay the hosting fees and buy equipment when needed (which isn't often.) Our mail server is more than 10 years old, and our webserver is five now. They're both working fine, and I won't even suggest buying another one so long as these are usable. Stovebolt members have paid completely for both servers.

When we first started having our own servers, one man helped make it all possible. His name was Pete Kenny. He was the owner of American Classic and a longtime advertiser. When we decided to get our own dedicated server (because our hosting company was cutting us off due to excessive traffic), Pete called me and asked me to pick out a server and he would have it shipped to me. Pete passed away last year, but he was a big part of the success of this site. Thanks, Pete.

Very well put Paul. I posted a “Reminder” a few weeks back and got some negative feedback from one of our resident malcontents. I sincerely hope everyone who has benefited from Stovebolt.com would consider sending a little something for the kitty.

Thanks Paul. I was just looking for that link last week and couldn't find it. I know I've been there more than once, but couldn't locate it. Thanks again.

....... I'll admit, I've been a little slack lately. Yes, the check is in the mail box headed to Stovebolt land. Thanks to all have helped keeping this site up and running. What would we do without it??? Think about it....not even mentioning the great friends I have made over the years and all the parts received and shipped.
Thank you all.

Thanks for pointing this out. You are correct. it is very low key. I have been a member for 3 years and did not know this was set up. I just visited the page. Not a big donation but I hope to make regular ones moving forward. I use to maintain a page for my sons high school football team. I appreciate all the hard work that goes into the page and the value it brings the members. Short of Google this is the page I visit the most.

Thanks again to everyone that makes this page what it is and that includes the members that take the time to respond to post. Without this great group and their willingness to share their vast knowledge base we would all be flying by the seat of our pants.

Merry Christmas

Yep, thanks for the nudge Paul. Wish I could do more as the help and advice I've received here is beyond belief this day and age.

Don't belittle your contributions. If every Stovebolt member donated $1 a month, John and Peggy would be getting $41,367 dollars a month. Even a dollar helps. Shoot, if every member gave 10 cents a month, they'd have more than 34 times the money they need for monthly hosting fees and we could buy a new server every month.

Thanks Paul for bringing this to the attention of the great members we have.
This is a group effort and all donations will go directly to keeping the site ad free.
I joke about the high paid Moderators, but they are all volunteers and patrol the site for free.

I think about it as a magazine subscription that just shows the fancy stuff.
So cancel the Playboy subscription and donate to a better cause.

Thanks
Don King

You can donate by credit card. Use the PayPal link on the "thanks" page link provided in baldeagle's post. You do not have to have a PalPay account. Just choose to pay by credit card. Enter the card info and you are done. Less than 5 minutes. PayPal will try to get you to create an account, but you can just click "no thanks". cool

Wow... Just ... wow.

Thank you all. I did notice the uptick in the donations and was wondering what was behind that .... now I know. Very humbling, indeed, and much appreciated. You all have been very generous over the years and have made sure we have *never* had to do anything so unfortunate as to have to load up the site with ads or go to a subscription-based service. Ick.

And thanks for remembering Pete, Paul -- I still remember that phone call -- NOT the voice one was expecting to hear when talking about the crash of an old truck Web site server ... (more about THAT below ...). He rescued Stovebolt when it was most in need of a rescue. Little known fact that's safe enough to share now (and I find it endearing) -- Pete hardly ever spoke on the phone to anyone involved in the old truck hobby, and only did so with us because he was that concerned about us. He was concerned that his *very* English midlands accent would be off-putting to good ole American antique truck nuts. I never thought it would (shoot, the internationality of this site is part of the fun and speaks directly to the quality of the hobby that draws people in from around the globe!) and it was always a treat to speak with a Cambridge Don! Although, he did seem to talk to Peggy more than me ... like, who wouldn't??

The hobby misses you, Pete!

Thanks to all and Merry Christmas!

John & Peggy

John & Peggy,

Thank you for all you do. Because of your efforts, there are over 40,000 old truck owners that have a place to talk about Stovebolt's with each other. Share experiences, ask and receive advice. We are able to enjoy are passion for Stovebolt trucks, because of all of the efforts of everybody that contributes their time and money to your site. Paul, I for one really appreciate you taking time to share this post with us. Providing a Paypal link for payment really helped. I was able to navigate your link and make a well deserved contribution. Again, thank you John and Peggy for everything. And a sincere thanks to all of the administrators and moderators. We all really appreciate all that you do.

Merry Christmas and Happy New Years.

I'd like to say Thanks and Merry Christmas to John, Peggy and everyone else who make the Stovebolt possible. I don't often post, but I've enjoyed reading and learning on the 'Bolt for countless hours over the last several years. Heck, I could've built a truck or two with all the time I've spent here. I appreciate the wealth of knowledge and decades, if not centuries of combined experience of many of the regular posters. Thanks Again! Merry Christmas!

** Thanks for the information on how to make a donation. All the information I have received from Stovebolt would be very hard to put a value on. In fact impossible would be a better term. Made my donation via my PayPal Acct. a few min. ago. ** Thanks to everyone that makes it all work.

My donation check is in the mail. I continue to enjoy this site tremendously and the network of old Chevy/GMC truck nuts that make it what it is...simply the best! Thank you to John, Peggy and the rest of the support team for all that you do for us. I wish we could find a way to have even more members make a financial contribution; perhaps some type of incentive would work. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to all!

I too have enjoyed this website immensely over the years since I joined back in 2008. I’ve had dozens of my questions answered by many of you, and I’ve also tried to contribute by making a few posts myself. Thank you John and Peggy, and all the support staff and moderators for all you’ve done to make the website what it is. All of us who like these old trucks enjoy the website so much! I just made my contribution via PayPal.

Merry Christmas to all!!
