i don't think you need any special tools, but i would like to know how you manage to do it.
hope you don't have a fan shroud because that made the job cumbersome for my pump replacement.
on my 50 1 ton with a 235, my fan will not sneak out after unbolting it from the pump, nor will the bump+fan combo sneak out
if you remove the shroud the radiator is now loose too, the shroud is then trapped by the fan and pump and you can't really get to the pump now since this dangling shroud keeps falling in your way and it blocks a lot of critical access
after removing the radiator several times in the life of my truck to access the pump, i have come up with steps to do it without removing the radiator
but it requires patients and turning bolts 1/12 of a turn at a time with the wrench at the tip of my fingers
1 - drain system and remove upper rad hose, remove all hoses at pump (lower hose stays on rad)
2 - undo fan bolts, leave fan in place
3 - undo all radiator/shroud bolts, but as you pull them out keep a couple bolts holding just the radiator
4 - sneak out fan between radiator and shroud
5 - pull out shroud, you now have sufficient clearance to access the pump
