Hello,has any one used a mono leaf drop? I am looking at the Classic performance setup of mono leaf 3in drop and disc brake setup.plan on a 350 engine and cruisin only.any help or experiences
helpful.

I put a Camaro 3.73 limited slip disk brake rear in mine and dropped the rear about two inches. Then I bought the monoleafs that Patrick's sells for the front. Rear springs are stock. Front end is the stock axle with the monoleafs and disk brakes.

So, how is the ride, is the front 2 or 3 in drop?

Patrick's says the drop is 4", but I think it was more like 3". If you look at the picture, you'll see that the bottom edge of the fender lines up with the top edge of the tire. That was exactly the look that I was looking for. The stock setup is about 2-3" above the tire.

I like the ride, but then I wanted a ride that was a bit stiff. It doesn't ride like a passenger car, more like a sports car suspension.

I put monoleaf both front and rear on my 46 and got about a 3" drop. They make the rear springs with different drops depending on what you do up front. The rear was still about an inch higher than what I wanted so I put front shakles on the rear and got the extra inch. I left the single action shocks up front but when I find a kit to change them I will. I agree with Baldeagle on the ride not stiff and not soft like a car.

This may be kinda late, but I just wanted to add some advice. If you are going to go with a 5 lug disc brake setup, I would recommend doing what I did. I would go and try and find a 9 plus rearend. I ripped one out of a junked **** (that probily will be edited, but its a care company that starts with a f and ends with a d)Mustang I have been doing performance customz for a while now, and I have never gone wrong with the 9s. Though it may seem like blasimy to put **** parts on a stovebolt, the gears are just right and the brakes have really good stopping power for a street performance truck. You can also find them on many cars in a junk yard. Though you might want to have them rebuilt. As for front disc brakes, there are several 5 lug kits you can buy. Most of them cost around $300, which isnt bad considering they come with new spindles, the disc brakes, new brake lines and connectors, and usually new master cylinders and... The power things on the master cylinder(I just had the huggest brain fart and I cant for the life of me remember what they are called even though I install them almost every week...)I dont know what kits they have for your truck, but I know recently they made some kits that are easier to install on older trucks than the original kits. On the original kits you had to modify the ball joints and make adaptors and it was a real pain to install. Ofcourse, it all depends on what you want to use your truck for. If you are going to put it out on the street though, and you want that performance edge, the setup I have been using, if you do it right, has never let me down. I used the 9 setup on my Monte Carlo, and I get every hosre out of my 500 hp v-10.

You can get a really good Disc brake conversion kit for older trucks. In most cases you can get a kit for your truck that will keep you from having to modify ball joints and parts to fit the spindals. The kits are also complete and they are around 300 dollars or so.
