The grease seal that goes on the back of the brake drum (open face) and against backing plate has a lip on the i.d. Of the seal. The old one didn’t. Can anyone tell me which way that lip faces, toward drum or backing plate? Thanks.

Just trying to keep this site as it was intended to be by the site owners. Cars can be discussed without being criticized in the Greasy Spoon.

They both have the same wheel base, use the same 3 speed manual and overdrive transmissions, and use the same driveshaft and universal joints. On some years and models the wheel bearings are the same, as are brake linings, engines, distributors, generators, starters, and numerous electrical and mechanical components. I believe in the purpose of specific sites but factual information should be able to be shared across the board. Fred

I have helped several guys with problems on this forum only to find out in a pm that they were working on late model cars. Doesn’t matter to me...if a guy needs help, then he needs help. Sorry, I’m from the south and we look at things differently.

Guys, I can’t stop you from posting CAR questions. I don’t have and don’t want that power. All I’m asking is you respect the mission as laid out by the site owners. I’m going to ask the Moderator to lock this thread. The initial question has been answered.
