Does anyone out there in Stoveboltland know of a source where I can get custom length oil filter hoses made?

Hmmmm- - - - -my answer just disappeared! Go to any hydraulic shop and get them to make some #3 or #4 diameter "single braid" lines in whatever length you want. You'll need a 1/8" NPT male fitting on both ends, one rigid, and the other end with a swivel fitting so it can be tightened without twisting the line. #3 line is 3/16" ID and #4 is 1/4"- - - - -either one will work. Single braid line is rated to carry hot hydraulic fluid at a working pressure of 3,000 PSI, so 216 oil pressure of less than 30 PSI won't stress it at all.

Our local NAPA makes them up.
You may try one in your area.

Jerry, isn't there a restriction/ orifice inside the filter housing that reduces flow through the filter - to keep the pressure up for the mains and cam bearings? So even a larger diameter hose would not hurt anything.

Yep, the standpipe that supports the filter cartridge has a 1/16" orfice to control oil flow. Flex lines bigger than 1/4" ID are just a little hard to manipulate in the somewhat cramped space they need to occupy without getting against the exhaust pipe.

If you don't care about whether your oil filter/soft oil lines look like what was installed by the dealer (none were installed at the assembly line), you can use metal brake lines.
Old tractor filters came that way. Since the filter is attached directly to engine (intake manifold), there is no need for a soft line.

That is what I did on my 49-3100.
Metal brake lines and no worry of a rubber hose failing.

I found a set of lines that were suppose to work from classicparts but one came up short. It is possible the oil filter I added to my 54 235 was not the correct year and the design might be why one line came up short. I tired NAPA. they do make up lines but did not have the correct fitting for to match up with my oil filter. After no luck searching for a longer line that would work I went to Advance Auto parts ( they carry more in stock brake parts than Auto Zone) and bought the copper/nickel brake line (more flexible) and some fittings to make up my own line. My input line is rubber and my output line is metal.

I think I'd just add a pipe nipple and maybe an elbow to the bottom of the filter housing to get a little more length.

Not having much luck trying to get a longer input oil line. The only thing local folks are offering is 3 000 psi hydraulic lines with massive fitting. I suppose I could try and fabricate a line out of copper tubing. Maybe I have the wrong year filter cannister. The input oil line is on the radiator side of the cannister. Makes more sense to be on the cab side. If it was on the cab side the 18" line i got from JC would probably work.

What length line do you have?

What length line do you need?

. . . and, if you are in an answering mood:

You can build your own hoses with these push-lok fittings
They're rated for up to 100 psi, which should be fine for an oil filter line. Bulk fuel hose to use with these is available at most parts stores.

Unless you put a coil in it to absorb vibration, copper isn't the best to use, as it may eventually crack at the fittings.

Use a big socket as a bending fixture to put a 360 degree vibration loop into a hard pipe to prevent fatigue cracks at the fittings. The copper/nickel brake lines make very good oil filter lines if you choose to run hard pipe instead of flex lines. They also come with inverted flare fittings on both ends, which are easy to connect to the filter with a flare-to-pipe adapter bushing.

Thanks auto correct for screwing up my message. Should have said 'push-loc' route. And thanks klhansen.

Don't use fuel hose- - - -even high pressure fuel injection hose- - - -for hot engine oil! You need something rated for 200 degrees F. or hotter, minimum.

Fuel Injection hose SAE J30R9 is rated for up to 275F. Even the more common J30R7 is rated for the same temperature.

Here's some info from Parker Parker Push-Lok

Unless you go to their high temp hose, they don't rate them for more than 212F. Even that should be adequate, especially considering the low pressure.
