Has anyone located an inexpensive source for parking brake cables? Or any outside options, work arounds, etc. I am having a hard time pulling the trigger to spend $65/each for cables. Maybe I'm being cheap, but when 1/2 ton cables are selling for $20....

hi aggie jon,
i'm also interested in these cables, i'm likely to need a few as well, so far the best i found online is from
www.oldchevytrucks.com:
1947-1952 Park Brake Cable 1 Ton Rear 64" Long Chevrolet and GMC Pickup Truck
Item Number: MEB491
Retail: $65.00 EACH

i haven't ordered any yet to see if there are worth it or even correct.
i'm gonna try to salvage my old ones first, see if i can strip them down, maybe find some stainless cable to thread into them, drill out and weld the old cable end onto the new cable.
lets hope something comes up online smile

PM Hambone and ask him where he got his new pbrake cables made and what was involved -- it might be an option.

Inline tube is where most brake lines and cables will come from. At one point I sent my old cables in and they built up new ones. If nothing else they are worth a call to talk to the tech guys.

I bought mine form Jim Carter a while back. Fit perfectly. I didn't find many other places that offered replacements without having them made to order.

Dave,

Thanks for the vote of confidence. Glad to hear someone has had good success with them.
