I have seen several vendors offering running board scuff plates for the passenger and drivers side running boards. We're these available as an actual option on the 1950 3100?
Here is a view of a GMC set showing the hardware and instructions referenced above. I have a NOS Chevrolet set and it is a very high quality, well made part. These parts were available at the dealer parts counter, they could be installed by the owner or service department. As such these would be appropriate for your 1950 truck. This accessory appears in the Salesman Data Book for 1950 on page 218, in the 1950 price guide (attached to the book) they are listed at $7.50 per pair both 1949 & ‘50.
I can't speak for the quality of the new repop steps that J.C. is currently selling but...I installed a pair of these safety treads that I located through J.C. over 25 years ago & they have held up well & they are an exact copy of the original GM units.
The abrasive sheet was finally wearing thin after 25 years of use & I installed J.C's replacement abrasive sheets to them a few years ago.
The only draw back to installing them is that you are required to drill 6 holes in each running board to install them.
It is recommended that you lay down a few coats of thick paint or undercoating on the running board under the step plates & on the bottom of the plates themselves before you install them as water/dirt/mud tends to work its way under them { in the ribs of the running board } & that along with the 6 drilled holes...means you will have accelerated rust & corrosion problems if you don't prep the boards & steps before you install them.
Thanks Brad! I'll take them. I can't imagine finding NOS tread plates for a better price than the $7.50/set which you have clearly offered in your post above! Of course I am willing to pay for shipping, as long as they fit in a flat rate box...

Cant read the instruction sheet is that mount the steps 6" from the back of the door to the centerline of the first row of bolts?
