I'm a life member of the VFW, but it took almost 40 years to get over the fact that us Southeast Asia vets were denied membership in that organization by WW II vets early on, because we didn't serve in a declared "war". The saying it takes money to make money rings true. Unless the article suggests that the 34% spent on fund raising is spent on non fundraising interests (Swiss bank accounts and the like) then they are misrepresenting the situation.
