Any idea what type of engine this is? It’s in a ‘46 1/2 ton.
Sorry - those are all the pics I’ve been provided with.
Was hoping for the original 216.

Most of the inline 6's of that era look the same externally, so you'll need to get casting numbers off the engine to determine what it is. There are many references for this.

Here's one.

Yes, I do realize that. Sellers for these trucks are spoiled these days and only provide so much. Was just hoping that the “expert” eyes may see something that I don’t. Thank you though.

Valve cover says not 216. Fenton headers. Interesting steering box fill and oil filter. Ballast resistor says 12V. Why would someone "want" a 216 except to be a purist. Did you buy it or are thinking of buying it?

I my self would be interested in a reliable motor that I can get off-the-shelf parts for. I've poured so many rabbit or bobbit or babbitt bearings.... I can't even tell you. Won't do it anymore. Like grampa would say, "Don't go straight, go V8". "Slap a SBC or a BBC in there boys".

I appreciate you thougts. Not really part of my original question, but still nice information.
Maybe you want to start a new thread if you’d like more thoughts on that.
