Moving my fuel tank out of the cab, want to put it under bed with the filler neck in the wood. I assume will have to ditch the underneath spare tire carrier. I am looking for photos, and the steps/process used to do this, etc. I have to think there are a ton of these exact setups out there, just did not see any posts for the my stock '50 AD 3100 chassis.

Are you locked on to a Mustang tank? We used to use them but hate the idea of leaning over the tail gate to gas up and spilling gas on the nicely finished boards. The alcohol blended gas eventually messes up the coating on the bed boards. We now use S10 Blazer tanks that the filler tube is on the drivers side and run the tube up to a motorcycle gas cap in the left rear fender. These caps mount flush with the sheet metal and if painted body color they are nearly invisible, plus, it's right out in the open and spilled gas is not a problem. A few pics of one in a 52 short bed.

Thanks. That looks sweet. Unfortunately I am already locked onto the mustang tank. Trying to see the mount up on the chassis of one before the bed goes on to determine best position and hopefully not having to move the rear cross member where the leaf spring shackle mounts especially!

When you finally get to the moment to pour gas into the tank. I would put only 4 gallons in (assuming you are planning to install a 16 gal tank). Check the fuel level on your gauge. If it does not read 1/4 tank, now is the time for you to remove the fuel sending unit, tweak (bend) the float's arm until it now reads 1/4 tank on the gauge. When you get to that point, PM me. I've spent many hours on the vintage m00stang fuel tank circuitry after restoring a 65 & a 68. Shhhhhh!
