I have a 1955 first series 3100 pickup. I have the stainless front windshield molding, but I am having trouble getting someone to install it because they say that they have tried in the past only to find that the molding doesn't stay in. The rubber seal is from Steele rubber products. The molding really sets the truck off, but if it doesn't fit correctly it probably isn't worth messing with. Has anyone else experienced this problem? Thank you.

Have not installed one myself but I understand that you put the rubber on the windshield, then the chrome strip, and then install the whole assembly in the window opening.

^^This is exactly correct.^^ I'd add that the shop that installed mine taped it onto the windshield a couple days before installing it into the truck.

Shop around for an installer that knows how to install it. Some shops will flat out refuse, and that's better than having someone "take a stab at 'er". You want the guy that immediately and confidently tells you he knows how.

I polished my stainless trim before it was installed as it's the only way to get it done properly.

Thanks, now I just have to find a installer. I live in Pittsburgh, Pa, and I am finding it more and more difficult to find anyone who is willing to do anything out of the ordinary, including mechanical work. Seems as though all the good craftsman have passed on and the young people just don't give a darn!

Do they sell the stainless for the window. I always wondered when i see the rubber for the window for sale and they specify with stainless but never see the stainless included or sold seperatly.

They do re-pop the split windshield stainless steel moulding for the 1947-53 Advance Design trucks.
They do not re-pop the non-split windshield stainless steel moulding for the 1954-55 1st series Advance Design trucks
Tooling cost is not justified because the 1954-55 1st series trucks were only in production for 1 1/2 years.
