Military vehicles were typically found to be very spartan with few options other than items would increase payload, ground clearance, or other mechanical/electrical systems. Old military vehicles have some following with the best examples being fully restored to their original build sheet. Colors varied through the years, I am sure there are some remnant painted areas on your truck. Sounds cool!
Paul has it correct, they were generally bare bones vehicles. If you look at the ID tag that Tim has posted, the contract number begins with DA. Military tactical (and commercial design) vehicles were purchased under contracts negotiated by the Department of the Army Tank and Automotive Command in Warren, Michigan. Agencies would submit their requirements and specifications to them and be included in established orders. Navy vehicles were painted navy gray up until the mid 80's when the standard colors were changed to white. Fred
