I was guessing and ordered 1/4” tubing. Once I got the lines in and a caliper out, I measured the brake lines at 1/4” and the fuel line at 5/16”. I have bent the brake lines but stopped before I got to the thicker diameter fuel line. I have enough 1/4” line left over to plumb the fuel line with 1/4”. Would it be detrimental to use the 1/4” tubing for fuel line on a stock setup (216 w/ stock carb) or do i need to order a spool of 5/16” tubing to use for the fuel lines? Go to your FLAPS and buy a 4 foot section of 5/16" line with two inverted flare nuts already installed. Bend to fit, and cut and re-flare the tubing for one fitting.

If 1/4 was sufficient, the factory would have used it. Better to use the 5/16 then find your self conking out somewhere because the 1/4 is insufficient.

The copper/nickel sure does work easy. I'll source some 5/16". Their website is selling 5/6" copper/nickel tubing in 5 foot sections. Call them up. Or order online and pick up locally. Or move near me and I'll give you some

| | | | | Joined: Apr 2005 Posts: 2,832 'Bolter | | 'Bolter Joined: Apr 2005 Posts: 2,832 | !/4" line is plenty big enough for a 216. Fords of that era were 239ci V8 and used a 1/4" line all the way from the tank to the carb plus they turned way more rpm's than the Chevy.

I asked, They said they would have to order it. Every store has everything online. No store has it in store on the shelf. They can all get it ordered in. I can do that myself on amazon. And I don't have to make a second trip into town to run it down. I have my preferred parts guy on speed dial at NAPA.
